Interview 6/6: Next generation citizens (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
PREDA team shared some exciting news about their pilot action!
The Development Agency of the City of Prijedor, “PREDA,” invites children aged 6 to 11 and their parents to join the “Guardians of the Planet: Citizens of the New Generation” program, which aims to promote ecological awareness and action. This dynamic program consists of three engaging phases, offering both fun and educational activities that will help families learn how small changes can lead to big results for the environment.
In Phase 1, children and parents will participate in a workshop based on traditional learning methods, including lectures and discussions on key ecological issues such as pollution, climate change, and recycling. During this phase, families will create their own “Eco Rules,” which they will implement throughout the program. Phase 2 introduces creative and interactive “Nudge” workshops, using techniques to motivate and engage participants. These workshops include watching an animated film with an environmental message, creating eco-superheroes, and hands-on activities like recycling and 3D printing. In the final Phase 3, children become nature ambassadors by recording and sharing short video messages with ecological tips on social media, spreading the word about sustainable living.
After each workshop, children will receive eco-badges, and to become true heroes of the city, they must collect all the badges and participate in the final award ceremony. The program runs from February 22 to June 10, 2025.
Participating in the program allows families to gain valuable knowledge about environmental conservation through fun and educational activities, spend quality time together working on eco-projects, and become part of a global movement for environmental protection. Plus, participants have the opportunity to become one of the first 15 eco-heroes of the City of Prijedor.
By supporting children in adopting eco-friendly behaviours, we’re not only protecting nature today but also nurturing the next generation of citizens who will safeguard our planet for decades to come.
