Touching the untouchable – Pescara pilot

Our Italian pilot in Pescara, organized in collaboration with the Deposito dei Segni Association, showcases the transformative power of creative engagement. The “ART and HANDICRAFTS” workshop centers on manual activities, under the guidance of Cam Lecce and Jörg Grünert, to support the development and maintenance of essential skills. Participants work on their motor and cognitive abilities—such as eye-hand coordination, logic, memory, and self-awareness—while strengthening social skills like collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect.

These manipulative activities go far beyond crafting; they create a space for self-expression, personal growth, and social connection. By linking artistic creation to self-esteem and satisfaction, the workshop brings harmony between body, mind, and others. Artistic language becomes a tool for reflection, communication, and well-being, helping participants become more aware of their emotions and how these influence daily life. Through hands-on exploration of art materials and techniques, individuals discover new interests, skills, and even potential pathways for future studies or careers.

This initiative is part of the pilot action implemented by Università G. d’Annunzio di Chieti-Pescara within the NUDGES project.

Our evaluation focused on the workshop activities and their impact, aiming to measure how creative, tactile experiences can nudge participants toward more sustainable, conscious lifestyles. The results contribute valuable insights into how art-based interventions can inspire change on both personal and community levels.
